Chorley Project

Problem: Clients had buyers for their house. The purchasers Solicitors noted that there was no over build certificate from United Utilities regarding an extension erected some seven years ago over a main sewer. A CCTV Survey carried out showed that one of the steel encased piles supporting the extension had gone through the 450mm diameter sewer. The depth of the sewer was 3.3m deep.

Answer: Excavate down side of properties gable end to expose pile and a section of sewer. Erect bespoke shuttering as excavation got deeper. Over pump effluent from manhole upstream of excavation to manhole downstream to allow pile to be removed and section of sewer repaired. Backfill excavation with MOT and void under extension filled using foam concrete. Back garden then reinstated and new lawn laid.
