Problem: Site discharging water/cement mixture into nearby canal by mistake. Canal had build up of cement residue around outfall pipe. United Utilities wanted site to discharge into nearby foul line but only after water/cement mixture had been treated through a three stage interceptor. Clients also wanted to be able to recycle as much water as possible.

Answer: A 15000 Litre three stage interceptor trap was designed specifically for the site with a 4th tank fitted downstream with a pumping system which allows the filtered water to outfall to the foul line or be pumped back to a holding tank on site. Consent to discharge was obtained, the output water quality has exceeded all targets, and the site has surpassed its targets for using recycled water.
